Buying
How do I contact a seller?
Every available vehicle page offers WhatsApp, a phone number, a written enquiry and a viewing request. WhatsApp messages are pre-filled with the vehicle details and the listing link so the seller knows exactly which car you mean.
Can I compare vehicles side by side?
Yes. Add up to four vehicles to the comparison from any listing card or vehicle page, then open the compare view to see price, year, mileage, engine, transmission, drive, body type, seats, condition and location in one table.
Is the history information on a listing checked?
Accident history, service history, previous owners and duty status are supplied by the seller unless the listing carries a verification badge covering that item. We label seller-supplied information clearly on every vehicle page so you know what has been independently checked and what has not.
Selling
Does it cost anything to list my car?
No. Listing a vehicle on Drive Shift Cars is free for private owners and dealers. You create an account, complete the listing, upload photos and submit it for review. There is no listing fee, no subscription and no pay-to-publish requirement.
How long does review take?
Most submissions are reviewed within one working day. You will be notified in your dashboard when the listing is approved, rejected, or when we need changes. If we ask for changes, the notes tell you exactly what to fix before resubmitting.
What happens after I mark my car as sold?
The listing stays publicly visible for seven days with a SOLD badge, and the contact options are disabled so you stop receiving enquiries. After seven days it leaves public search automatically. The record stays in your dashboard permanently — nothing is deleted.
Can I edit a listing after it has been approved?
Yes. Editing an approved listing sends it back through review before the changes go live, which protects buyers from a listing changing materially after they saw it. Small corrections are usually re-approved quickly.
Verification
What does the "Drive Shift Verified" badge actually mean?
It means our team carried out specific checks on that vehicle and recorded the result. Every verified listing shows the exact checks that were performed — for example seller identity confirmed, ownership documents sighted, registration details cross-checked, and photos confirmed to match the vehicle. We only display "physical inspection completed" where an inspection genuinely took place, and where it did you can open the full report from the vehicle page. Verification is not a mechanical warranty and it does not replace your own inspection.
Is an approved listing the same as a verified vehicle?
No, and we keep the two deliberately separate. Approval means an administrator reviewed the submission and allowed it to be published — the photos are genuine, the description is coherent and the listing meets our standards. Verification means we checked the vehicle and its documents. Most listings on the site are approved; only a subset are verified, and you can filter for verified vehicles only in the search results.
Inspection
Do you inspect every vehicle on the platform?
No. Physical inspections are carried out on a subset of listings, and we never imply an inspection happened when it did not. Use the "Inspection available" filter to see only vehicles with a published inspection report, and open the report before you travel to a viewing.
Who writes the inspection reports?
Inspections are performed by our own inspectors or by an independent partner, and the report names the inspector, the company and the date. Reports include a section-by-section rating and an overall result of passed, passed with advisories, or failed.
General
Does Drive Shift Cars handle payment or transfer?
Not at this stage. Drive Shift Cars connects buyers and sellers; the transaction, the payment and the logbook transfer happen directly between you. Never send a deposit before you have seen the vehicle and confirmed the logbook is in the seller's name.
