Here is exactly what ours means.
Most marketplaces use one badge for everything, so “verified” ends up meaning “an admin clicked approve”. We split the two apart deliberately, because they are different promises and buyers deserve to know which one they are looking at.
Listing approved
Every listing on the public marketplace has been through this. An administrator read the submission, looked at the photos and confirmed the listing meets our standards before it was published.
- The photos appear to be of the actual vehicle
- The description is coherent and not misleading
- The price and specifications are plausible
- The listing follows our content rules
Approval is an editorial decision about the listing. It makes no claim about the car.
Drive Shift Verified
A smaller number of vehicles carry this badge. It means our team carried out specific checks on that car and recorded the result. Every verified listing shows you the exact list — click the badge on any vehicle page to see it.
- Seller identity confirmed
- Ownership documents sighted
- Registration details cross-checked
- Photos match the vehicle on record
- Mileage supported by evidence
- Physical inspection completed
Not every verified car has every check. The badge lists only what was actually done.
What verification is not
Not a mechanical warranty
We do not guarantee the vehicle will be fault-free, now or later. Nothing on this site replaces your own inspection.
Not always a physical inspection
We only show "physical inspection completed" where an inspector actually examined the car and filed a report you can open.
Not a valuation
We do not confirm that the asking price is fair. Compare listings and negotiate.
Not a guarantee of the seller
A verified vehicle and a verified seller are separate badges. Both are earned separately.
Inspection reports
Where an inspection exists, the vehicle page carries the full report: the inspector, the company, the date, section-by-section ratings and an overall result of passed, passed with advisories, or failed. You can read it before you travel to a viewing.
Where no inspection exists, the page says so in plain words. We never leave the question open to imply one might exist.
Common questions
What does the "Drive Shift Verified" badge actually mean?
It means our team carried out specific checks on that vehicle and recorded the result. Every verified listing shows the exact checks that were performed — for example seller identity confirmed, ownership documents sighted, registration details cross-checked, and photos confirmed to match the vehicle. We only display "physical inspection completed" where an inspection genuinely took place, and where it did you can open the full report from the vehicle page. Verification is not a mechanical warranty and it does not replace your own inspection.
Is an approved listing the same as a verified vehicle?
No, and we keep the two deliberately separate. Approval means an administrator reviewed the submission and allowed it to be published — the photos are genuine, the description is coherent and the listing meets our standards. Verification means we checked the vehicle and its documents. Most listings on the site are approved; only a subset are verified, and you can filter for verified vehicles only in the search results.
